பண்டைய காலத்தில் அரு உருவ வழிபாடாக செய்து வந்தார்கள். ஒரு குடத்தில் தண்ணீர் நிரப்பி அதில் மங்கள பொருட்கள் (மஞ்சள், வெற்றிலை, பாக்கு 1 வெள்ளி நாணயம் , தங்க நாணயம் இவைகளை போட்டு அதன் மேல் வேப்பிலையால் மற்றும் பூக்களால் அலங்காரம் செய்து மங்கள வாத்தியங்களுடன் கோவில் தலைமை பண்டாரம் தலையில் வைத்து ஆலயம் வலம் வருதல் வைபவம் சக்தி கரகம் ஆகும். இது நமது ஆலயத்தில் ஸ்ரீ காளியம்மன் திருவிழா, ஸ்ரீ அங்காளம்மன் திருவிழா மற்றும் பெரியாச்சி பூஜை போன்ற திருவிழாவின் போது சக்தி கரகம் எடுத்து வழிபடுவது வழக்கம்.

In ancient times worship was performed without idols. A pot is filled with water into which turmeric, betel leaves, betel nut, a silver coin and a gold coin are dropped. The top of the pot is also decorated with neem leaves and flowers. The chief priest will then place the karagam (decorated pot) on his head and circambulate the temple. This ritual is known as Sakthi Karagam (Sakthi’s decorated pot) and is observed at our temple during Sri Kaliamman Festival, Sri Angalamman Festival as well as Periyaachi Amman prayers.
